Met de nu verkrijgbare V2 Resin Tank voor de Form 3 kan nu ook geprint worden met Elastic Resin, Rigid Resin en Grey Pro Resin
The Form 3 Resin Tank V2 replaces the existing Resin Tank (V1) for the Form 3 and Form 3B. This allows the printer to use Elastic, Rigid and Grey Pro resins, which could not be printed with the V1 tank before.
If you have Resin Tank V1 already, you can continue to use it to print with any materials except Rigid, Elastic, and Grey Pro Resins.
Elastic Resin: Prototype Soft and Flexible Parts on the Form 3
While traditional mold making techniques, such as RTV molding, transfer molding, and injection molding have been used to prototype parts in silicone, engineers and product designers can also directly print soft flexible parts using Elastic Resin.
Elastic Resin is the most pliable of Formlabs’ Engineering Resins, with a Shore durometer of 50A as well as high elongation and energy return. This latest category of materials saves time and labor, allowing for deeper iteration and shorter product development cycles. Use Elastic Resin to create small to moderately-sized soft, flexible parts, while continually improving design between and within batches.
Elastic Resin is ideal for:
- Wearables and consumer goods prototyping
- Compliant features for robotics
- Special effects props and models
- Parts that will bend, stretch, compress, and hold up to repeated cycles without tearing
Rigid Resin: The Stiffest Among Formlabs Engineering Resins
Rigid Resin, Formlabs’ glass-reinforced material, offers high tensile modulus, a polished finish, and high stability over time. It’s great for precise printing of strong, thin features. With Form 3 Resin Tank V2 and the latest software, you can now print in Rigid Resin on the Form 3.
With the highest flexural modulus of any Formlabs resin, Rigid Resin is very stiff and noncompliant. Print jigs, fixtures, and tooling, or strong, thin parts like turbines, fan blades, manifolds, and housings for electronics. It has great impact strength, heat resistance, and stability, however, it is more brittle than Tough Resin or Durable Resin.
Grey Pro resin: Ideal for Concept Modeling on the Form 3
An all-purpose functional prototyping material, Grey Pro Resin has moderate elongation, high heat resistance, and low creep. This material is ideal for concept modeling and functional prototyping, especially for parts that will be handled repeatedly. Now with Form 3 Resin Tank V2 and the latest software, you can print in Grey Pro Resin on the Form 3.
Use Grey Pro Resin for printing a bracket, for instance. It requires high flexural modulus, or stiffness, and low creep so that the part will continue to do its job over time without slowly deforming. Grey Pro Resin, along with Rigid Resin, have the lowest creep among Formlabs materials.
